Camping In Yosemite National Park
With limited accomodation within Yosemite, the Curry Village tents are the most inexpensive way to explore the national park. We visited in the fall, as the leaves were changing - which made for the most beautiful photos!
Why We Loved It…
You’re based in the heart of the park. Hiking trails, restaurants and the shuttle bus are all within a 5 minute walk.
It’s an affordable way to easily experience the charm of Yosemite.
What To Do Nearby..
Visit the iconic ‘Tunnel View’ at sunrise or sunset.
Mirror Lake walk is a lovely morning walk (3.5km round trip) - there was a bear along the river with her cubs when we visited.
Bridalveil falls - short walk to view the plunging waterfall.
Glacier Point - a great overlook of the valley including half dome and Yosemites high country.
Walking around the village is beautiful, visit the ‘welcome center’ to learn about the history of the park. There are plenty of places to picnic.
Cooks meadow offer spectacular views of the Yosemite landscape, looking up at the dramatic cliff faces with the fields below.
How To Get There..
Yosemite is a 3.5 hour drive from San Fransisco
We drove in from Mammoth Lakes via the Tioga Pass which is a 2.5 hour drive. This drive is stunning! If you have time in your Yosemite trip to visit this side of the park, it has beautiful lakes and forests.
Note: If you’re travelling from Mammoth Mountain/Lakes is winter, the Tioga pass closes due to snow, making this a 7 hours drive.
How To Book..
The tent is an affordable option with basic amenities including a shared toilet block. We paid a little more and opted for a tent with a heater which was comfortable in the autumn climate. Being that its a tent, you do hear a bit of noise from people coming and going.
You may encounter some wildlife around the tents. Each tent has its own private bear locker.
